How BMR Calculator works
BMR estimates the energy the body uses at rest from the personal inputs and the formula selected by the tool. It is an estimate, not a measured metabolic rate.
Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) across multiple scientific formulas.
Calculate baseline calorie burn at rest and daily TDEE energy expenditure
Minimum calories required to sustain vital functions at total rest.
A fast client-side Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Calculator. Determine the number of calories your body burns at complete rest, and estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) across 5 distinct activity levels.
Select your unit system (Metric or Imperial).
Enter your gender, age, weight, and height.
Choose a calculation formula (Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, or Katch-McArdle).
Review your baseline resting BMR calorie burn and daily activity expenditure (TDEE) breakdown.
Click 'Copy Summary' to save your metabolic stats.
Calculates resting Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) in kilocalories per day
Calculates Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) across 5 physical activity levels
Supports 3 scientific formulas: Mifflin-St Jeor, Revised Harris-Benedict, and Katch-McArdle
Full Metric (kg, cm) and Imperial (lbs, feet/inches) unit toggles

Health calculations are estimates based on the information entered. They do not replace examination, testing or advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Results may be less representative for children, pregnancy, medical conditions or unusual circumstances unless the tool specifically states otherwise.

Answers about how the tool works, its limitations, and how your information is handled.
BMR is the amount of energy (in calories) your body needs to carry out basic life-sustaining functions—such as breathing, circulation, cell production, and nutrient processing—while at complete rest.
BMR is the calories burned staying in bed all day. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) adds your physical movement and daily exercise on top of your BMR.
Different BMR equations use different assumptions and inputs. Mifflin-St Jeor is commonly used for estimating resting energy needs in adults, while Katch-McArdle incorporates an estimate of lean body mass. None of these equations measures an individual’s metabolic rate directly.
No. The result is an informational estimate based on the inputs supported by the calculator. It does not replace advice, diagnosis or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional.
